Dean Y. Shigemura
Mr. Shigemura has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2008 (formerly known as Managing Committee). He supervises Bank of Hawaii’s internal financial reporting, planning and forecasting, financial accounting and reporting, regulatory financial reporting, corporate taxation, and the overall budget and forecast for the company.
Mr. Shigemura joined the bank in 1999 as Vice President and Investments Officer, and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2002. He was named Executive Vice President and Treasurer the following year, and then Controller in 2014. In 2017, Mr. Shigemura was appointed to Chief Financial Officer and then Vice Chair. Prior to Bank of Hawaii, he worked as Vice President and Financial Analyst for The Shidler Group and Project Manager for Castle & Cooke.
A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Shigemura holds a master’s degree in finance and management. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2012, he graduated from Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
Mr. Shigemura also holds a Certified Public Accountant designation in the state of Hawaii. He currently serves on the board of directors of Diamond Head Theatre and AlohaCare.
